The recent loss of amazing musicians such as Dolly Parton and Cassandra Wilson has reminded me just how powerful music can be in supporting our well-being. Music therapy is used in dementia care and the impact can be substantial. The language of music can remain accessible to those with cognitive decline long after words fail.

My father loved to sing and I wish we had been able to incorporate that aspect of his personality into his dementia care.

Check out the post above that recounts one such example of music therapy in a care setting.
